Global Escapes Founder Alex Watson understands how to balance adventure and luxury, having won Adventure Tourism Operator of the Year in Queensland with his previous business in the beautiful Noosa region. A dedicated traveller to the Amalfi region, Alex has curated a tour itinerary that uncovers and savours the secrets of the Amalfi Coast.
Our small group, customised itineraries and 24-hour concierge service ensures every tour we offer is one-of-a-kind and tailored to our guests, taking you away from the tourist trail to live like a local and immerse yourself in the beauty this region has to offer.
All our experienced Escape Artists, guides, have spent extensive time on the Amalfi Coast, and many are locals, meaning they know the hidden gems and local treasures, giving you a truly authentic experience of the region.

Alex Watson
I was fortunate to have many wonderful years involved in Olympic sport.
Sport gave me the opportunity to travel to many parts of the world and get to really know different cultures while making life-time friendships with many interesting people. A love of nature and exploring inspired me to evolve my sporting career into an adventure tourism business based on Australia’s Sunshine Coast.
We were honoured to win many tourism industry awards over the years including Adventure Tourism Operator of the Year for the state of Queensland. Considering the high level of competition and the importance of tourism to the economy of Queensland it was a proud moment for our business.
I have always believed that the key to success for any tourism venture is the guest experience. My philosophy is simple…”What would I want to make this a great experience for me?” Then I go about making sure we deliver that experience and listen carefully to our guest feedback. Over the years these principles have proven to be both simple and successful. Many guests have returned to visit us from all corners of the globe…some returning six or seven times! It’s created a whole new group of wonderful friendships.
When I started exploring the Amalfi Coast I felt immediately that here is a region with so many layers. From the sea to the stunning hinterland it offers limitless opportunities to enjoy natural and cultural experiences that are so deserving of Amalfi’s UNESCO World Heritage listing. The Path of the Gods hiking trail embodies that coming together of nature, culture and mythology whilst offering an avenue for adventure. For me it encapsulates the very spirit of Amalfi.
